Valerie Saw has been a longstanding Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Services at Moorfields Eye Hospital (2007-2015), and Vice Chairman of Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Having graduated with the University Medal for first place on the Honours list at the University of Sydney Australia, she trained for 4 years at the highest level in complex corneal grafts (DALK, DSAEK) and cataract surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is the only female listed in "Top Laser Eye Surgeons in the UK" and is an Examiner for the RCO Certification in Laser Refractive Surgery.
She is a longstanding council member of the British Society of Refractive Surgery and member of ASCRS, ESCRS, UKISCRS and EuCornea. She is a member of the International Sjogren's Syndrome Registry Review Panel (SICCA) and a regular invited speaker at conferences in the UK and abroad.
Her PhD thesis on ocular scarring was awarded the Research Medal at Moorfields Eye Hospital and an ARVO Travel Grant. She is the recipient of a 2016 ARVO Mentoring Award.
Ms Saw has been performing eye surgery for over 10 years and specialises in laser refractive surgery, cataract and implant surgery, dry eye, contact lens problems and corneal transplantation.
