Miss Tree Richardson has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital since 2003.
Miss Richardson first trained in Psychology at the University of London, and later qualified with an honors degree in Medicine from the Royal Free Hospital, London. She went on to receive her specialist ophthalmology training at Moor Fields Eye Hospital, in the North Thames rotation from 1992-2001. She then obtained a fellowship in retina conditions, at the Moorfields Eye Hospital and was appointment a consultant eye surgeon at Croydon University Hospital shortly after, in 2002.
Aided by her degree in Psychology, Miss Richardson is aware of the different emotions patients needing surgery and other treatments for eye conditions may experience. Her knowledge of psychology enables her to provide a tailored treatment plan with the correct support for each patient. She aims to provide each patient with as much clear and relevant, patient-friendly information as possible for their condition. Miss Richardson specialises in dealing with anxious patients who need surgery or laser.
