I think combining cutting-edge technology with a personalised approach is key to achieving excellent outcomes for my patients. I have a strong mathematics and science background in addition to my medical training. After completing medical school in Auckland, I spent 18 months performing research on mitochondrial eye diseases leading to a Doctorate. I pursued my Ophthalmology vocational training in New Zealand and then spent two years working in Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS in London for my fellowship training, under the guidance of Prof Alan Bird (medical retina), Prof Adnan Tufail (big data research), Prof Andrew Webster (genetics), among others.
At the same time of my fellowship training, I completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Cambridge, specially addressing the use of artificial intelligence in clinical medicine. As part of my investigation, I became a self-taught coder with expertise in data science.
Upon returning to Auckland, I am appointed as a consultant in Auckland District Health Board, I have become the chairperson of the New Zealand Save Sight Society and am now proud to offer my services at Eye Institute.
For those fluent in Chinese, I can offer consultation in Chinese (Cantonese fluently, with some understanding in Mandarin, and I can read and write in traditional Chinese) if preferred.
