Dr. Dinesh Verma, is a senior ophthalmologist having held prestigious academic, clinical and research appointments for over three decades globally and currently works independently. After finishing his post graduate training from the prestigious Dr R P Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences (AIIMS), he went to the UK for further training and obtained his fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist in England from 1992 till 2001, Chief of Retina Service in Hull & East Yorkshire NHS Trust from 1994 till 2001 and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health,University of Hull from 1998 till 2001. He was Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Telemedicine Association, Institute of Patentees and Inventors, Oxford Ophthalmological Society, North of England Ophthalmological Society, Vitreous Society and All India Ophthalmological society of India. In April 2001 he was awarded the prestigious Mid-career award by P PP Foundation, London for research and was appointed as visiting Associate Professor at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University Hospitals, Baltimore where in October 2001, he carried out pioneering research in Virtual Reality Simulation. He then moved to the newly established Doheny Retina Institute, Los Angeles where he held a full-time faculty position as Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology with the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California & Visiting Professor of Ophthalmology. He returned to England in 2004 and was appointed Medical Director of a South African, UK based independent sector company in a 50 million dollar project to reduce cataract waiting lists in England in 2004. From 2005 till 2011, he worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the independent sector in Surrey & Hampshire and in NHS hospitals including University of Cambridge, UK where he carried out research in Placebo effect. Areas of special interest and expertise : Retina/ Phaco Surgery, Information Technology in Medicine with the use of Artificial Intelligence, Telemedicine, New Medical trends, Research and Medical Law expertise.
